The largest of the known octopus species, the Giant Pacific Octopus is an intelligent creature capable of opening jars, solving various tests, and escaping or dismantling its enclosures. Some researchers even believe they are capable of having a personality!

• Scientific Name: Enteroctopus dofleini
• Characteristics: This professionally-sculpted and hand-painted model captures the Giant Pacific Octopus’ sprawling body, including its eight arms lined with hooked suction cups, striking yellow eyes, and expansive head. Like other octopuses, the Giant Pacific variation can alter its skin texture to provide exceptional camouflage, making them both effective predators and elusive prey.
• Size and Color: Colored in the creature’s natural reddish-orange hue and measuring 2 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter, this figurine is as wide as a piece of legal-sized paper and about as tall as a stick of lip balm. Although these creatures aren’t commonly encountered in their natural habitat due to the depths at which they live, many can be found in various aquariums around the world. Despite their availability to the public and researchers for observation and study, little is known about the population density of these aquatic creatures. While the Giant Pacific Octopus is not considered endangered, researchers believe that the effects of pollution have a strong negative impact on both these octopuses and the environments in which they live.

These large octopi weigh about 100 pounds and lay eggs in underwater caves and crevices called dens. Each octopus has eight arms, and females have 280 suckers on each one.
